Recent tornado damage has made the Creeper Trail impassable between mile post 6 and 7 due to the destruction of Trestle 7 and damage to Trestle 8. This only limits through travel between the Watauga Road and Alvarado trailheads. The rest of the trail remains open.
This portion of the trail is owned by the Town of Abingdon who asks that trail users please respect private property by not trespassing on the adjacent land.

At this point there has been no time line established for the repairs but as we are informed of opportunities we will let VCTC "Creeper Keepers" know how they can help.

The Virginia Creeper Trail Club is a private nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to maintain, promote and preserve the Virginia Creeper Trail corridor and to help develop and conduct public education programs regarding the scenic and natural qualities of the Virginia Creeper Trail.

"The VCTC is an IRS certified tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible."
